The eccentric alignment bolts and washers on the Miata are susceptible to sudden slips.
You can try over-torqueing them but the more you do so, the more they will stretch and fatigue as a result.
The idea of a locking eccentric washer is not new, but we've made significant improvements over other designs.
Fine adjustment. Our lock washers have 40 sets of gear teeth, and they are offset by half a step, meaning each full tooth step is 9°, and each half step (by flipping the inner or outer piece) is 4.5°. That gives you 40 steps of adjustment for half a turn of the washer.
Teeth shearing. The common three tooth design by many manufacturers has been known to eventually strip, as the contact area is very small. By keeping our manufacturing in-house we make the necessary adjustments to cut a very fine tooth profile all around, offering a huge contact area between inner and outer lock washer, making sure these last you a lifetime.
Installation tool. Eccentric lock washers can be a hassle to install. This tool should save significant installation time by helping you make small adjustments in aligning the two washers so they go into each other.
If you have an NA with D shaped cutout bolts, you need to upgrade to the NB H-shaped cutout bolts.
